Baby Blue Stores was established in 2001, with a store on Kissena Blvd. in Queens, New York. Today, we have grown to 5 stores throughout Brooklyn and Queens. Our short term goal is to have 20 stores by 2012. Eventually, we plan to expand to urban areas throughout the U.S.
In order to facilitate the goal of expansion, several experienced professionals were recruited out of the retail industry. As of February 2006, a district manager was recruited to oversee all store operations and personnel. Additionally, a Chief Financial Officer was recruited as of July to handle corporate operations which include; sales forecasting, budgeting, payroll, expansion, profitability and metrics analyses, etc. Finally, in order to increase sales and brand awareness/value, a seasoned visual merchandising professional was recruited. Her function is to travel from store to store and continually arrange the stores in ways that will attract customers, increase sales and contribute to an overall uniformity of design between the stores. The addition of these key employees allows our CEO to concentrate solely on filling the stores with the hottest fashions and expanding operations. We feel very strongly that the company is now ready to move to the next phase of it’s expansion goals; Shopping Mall penetration.
The team at Baby Blue Stores is currently in the process of many vital projects to help achieve branding and expansion goals. These projects include; upgrading our retail management system to a state-of the-art, automated point-of-sale and inventory control system. We will now have the technology to implement a frequent buyer program and customer rewards program. We will also be able to use direct marketing, loyalty programs and email blasts to customers to increase sales.
Baby Blue’s system is a solid and very profitable one. Our sales per square foot are healthy; the payroll and overhead percentages are stable right and alongside the optimal industry metrics. Baby Blue Stores is also very reputable in the industry. We are approved by all the major factors. Baby Blue Stores also has a reputation of being financially solid and paying invoices on time.
